that day for moms

HAPPY MOTHERS' DAY TO ALLL THE LOVELY MUMS!
(...but especially to mine)
unfortunately, this post will be inadequate to demonstrate how much I love my mom or how thankful I am to her or the multitude of amazing things she's helped me do orrrr you, know, the all-encompassing things that make her my mother!
Luckily, Pinterest gave the this quote, which pretty perfectly articulates a feeling every daughter has towards her mom at some point:

This book has been on my to-read list since last summer-and, after this nearly brought me to tears, I'm thinking this year is the one to read it!

I know I can't sum it up, but that doesn't mean I won't try! Thank you for bringing me into this world, showing me the cool stuff, and protecting me from the bad. Thank you for every educational opportunity you've helped me take advantage of- from the books I could pile up at the library to private high school and now BC. I wouldn't be where I am today without your encouragement. Thank you for pushing back against me when I was being a stupid teenager- I know it still happens sometimes... but I'm twenty now, so, personal growth? Thank you for loving me, even when I'm acting unlovable, for teaching me even when I didn't want to be taught, and for letting me do my own thing when that time came. You've become my best friend, you've kept me sane through finals (no easy task!), and I can't wait to have our morning carpools back this summer! I LOVE YOU!

I did a bigger, more old-picture filled post last year for mothers' day (when finals weren't being rude and keeping me away from my best friend), you can find it here!

Just, today, promise me you'll tell your mom you love her. It doesn't have to be anything grand or impressive. You don't have to pick up the phone and call if that sends you into a whirlwind of angst (even though she'd probably love to hear your voice...). you can literally just shoot her a text or an email! Or if you're lucky enough to be with your mom right now- give her a hug! I'm sending allll the air hugs my mom's way today (she just doesn't know it). Even if you're a teenaged and everything she does is, like, engineered  to ruin your life-you know what, ESPECIALLY THEN- give her a goddamn hug and tell her you love her.

Also, if that description resonates with you, John Green has some words for you:

Happy Mothers' Day!
