smilingrid: in the shadows

in the shadows

My biggest association with eye make up has always been Jamie Lee Curtis telling Vada,"you can never wear enough blue eye shadow" in My Girl. Yikes.

So, that pretty effectively scared me off of using eye shadow. I figured I'd look clownish and stuck to mascara (if I put on anything at all). That outlook has held until pretty recently, when I started using the pretty palette I mentioned in this post. It seemed to look alright so I felt the urge to expand.

This tarte Beauty & the Box Amazonian eye shadow quad is currently on sale at Sephora!
Isn't it cute?

I got mine in "Beauty Resolutions" because Pinterest told me that purple shadow (5K here) looks good with green eyes.

Kitty was ever so kind, and gave me a soft eye look the other day, to ease me into this shadow-y land. The shadow seemed to go on (and come off) easily enough. I wasn't keeping tabs, but I think it lasted for a couple of hours, exactly as I needed it to! I also just really liked the way it looked- thumbs up for tarte!

I am always on the prowl for suggestions. Do you have any for me? Are you a whiz with eye shadow? Lend a girl a hand!

  1. I'm really working on getting over my fear/intimidation of eyeshadow, and I think if you just take it slowly, you'll be fine. Purple shadow and green eyes looks amazing- I hope you post a picture of what you look like!

  3. I love all of Tarte's products! My favorite eyeshadows are from Urban Decay. You can't go wrong with any of their eyeshadow palettes! From the drugstore, I'd recommend Wet-N-Wild or NYX. New follower from the blog hop :)
