Super Easy Buttermilk Scones

Who doesn't love a good scone, especially as the weather starts taking a turn for the colder? As I'm writing this, I can practically see the steam rising from these scones and am counting down the days until I can make them again (if only finals weren't in the way grrrr).

Also, I miss Ireland. but that's not a new thing so let's carry on to the recipe, shall we?

Ingredients

2 cups (10 oz) flour (good quality flour…like King Arthur brand)
2 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp sugar
a pinch of salt
1/3 cup (2 1/2 oz) salted butter (cold)
one egg, room temperature
1/2 cup (4 oz) + 1 tbsp buttermilk

1. Preheat oven to 400° F

2. Mix dry ingredients together in one bowl

3. Whisk an egg and then mix it and the buttermilk in their own bowl

4. Cut/mix/combine the butter into the dry ingredients

5. Make a well in the crumbly mixture and pour the egg-y buttermilk into it

6. Mix gently until a dough forms

7. Place dough onto a well-floured surface

8.Pat or roll out the dough and use a cookie cutter and/or cup to shape the scones

9. Bake for about nine minutes before turning the tray and baking until golden

10. Serve with Devon cream, jam, and tea (or whatever less Irish toppings you have on hand!)
