Proactiv Review First Impressions

This post was sponsored by Proactiv as part of a Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received complimentary products to facilitate my review

oof. Acne. The worst.

I had really hoped ignoring the problem until it went away would work when it came to this particular bane of my existence...but so far, no luck. I often find myself sitting in front of a mirror, poking and prodding and really really wishing my complexion was clear.

I'm in my 20s and still get painful (and, even worse, painful looking!) break outs, especially around finals time. When I'm crazy busy and stressed at school, the absolute last thing I want to be worrying about is the confidence-suck that is my skin.

Enter Proactiv! I've always seen the ads and heard the crazy claims, so when the opportunity to review the acne-clearing-and-prevention superstar arrived in my inbox I jumped ALL over it!

I'm hoping Proactiv can help me capture the reins on my acne. I know being in control over my skin (instead of letting it control me) will help me feel more confident and less stressed. Ultimate goal? to feel like I can go to class without my normal everyday makeup on... and without paranoia-ly feeling like everyone's staring at my face in horror.

They make some pretty big promises, being America's #1 acne brand for practically ever (okay, 15 years) and all: using microcrystal benzoyl peroxide, Proactiv targets the nasty, acne-causing bacteria and other baddies living on your face to leave a hydrated, evenly toned, glowing canvas behind. I can't wait to see if it works as promised!

Unboxing the whole shebang/some first impressions:
  • The packaging is really clean and practical. These bad boys fit perfectly on my bathroom counter, despite my having 7 roomies- the fact that they look nice there is a bonus!
  • The products all have a scent particular to acne medication... I can't quite describe it other than it's kind of chemical-y? and I recognized it right away? you know what I mean?
  • The three steps all have a different texture. The first has itty bitty beads in it, like a super fine exfoliating powder. Step two is a pretty sea-glass liquid to be applied with the help of a cotton pad. Step three is a quick-absorption gel/lotion. I also received an "Advanced Daily Oil Control" and "Oil Free Moisture with SPF 15," both of which feel most like step three.
