I would definitely be embarrassed to show the background of the below photo in clear vision, but I really think it goes to show you two very important things.
First, that I have tried everything to clear up my skin. I seriously mean everything from prescribed to over the counter, and extremely expensive to one dollar-treatments. And second, that Differin® Gel blows them all out of focus. Just peek at these before and after photos!
That being said, I definitely have some tips and best practices that I’ve found along my Differin® Gel journey. Let’s just jump right into them!
1. Follow instructions
This one might seem obvious, and honestly I hope this is a recommendation you don’t even think twice about following; it is incredibly important. This little tube is P-O-W-erful! It can really dry out your skin if not used as directed, which can be painful! Please use caution when using Differin® Gel with more than one acne treatment or glycolic acid product because this could lead to irritation.
2. Moisturize
Following the first point, when the instructions say “a thin layer,” they mean a thin layer. I was so excited by the changes I saw when using the product a couple days in, so I was slathering this bad boy all over. NOPE. Bad call. My skin felt super irritated, and it was completely on me! In addition to a night cream for my eye-area, I’ve also been switching between using a heavy moisturizer or an overnight mask after applying the Differin® Gel before bed. I’m definitely more light-handed in my application as well, and I’ve seen an incredible improvement in both my skin’s clarity and comfort.
3. Find a foundation that plays to your skin’s needs
Individual foundations and makeup companies offer completely different ingredients that will interact with your skin in varying ways. Look for products that advertise with your specific skin needs, like moisturizing, oil-controlling, all-natural, whatever the case may be! Then, stick with that product! Make your makeup a part of your healthy skincare routine and your skin will definitely thank you!
4. Live life to the fullest
You may be thinking, “What’s this got to do with skincare?” but hold on and let me explain. I recently travelled with my family, and Differin® Gel in my bag, to Chamonix in the French Alps. My skin has literally never been clearer. The sun, the exercise, the lack of stress (unless you count almost skiing over a crevasse), the completely bone-tired awesome sleeps, the FOOD, and my skincare routine, featuring Differin® Gel, all worked together to give me a radiance to match my joy! Since returning to the U.S., I’ve tried to incorporate as many of these aspects back into my life. Be nice to yourself, even if life is super hectic.
5. Just get to Target already!
